About the lodge and live stream

Welcome to The Basin

Welcome to the Basin Hidecam, located along a quiet waterway in Selinda Reserve, just 5km from Great Plains Conservation’s Réserve-Collection safari camp, Selinda Camp. Selinda Camp is also a member of the prestigious Relais & Châteaux association. Although shallow, this oxbow is a favourite drinking spot for elephants and giraffes, and a regular gathering point for plains game grazing its lush banks. It is also a haven for birdlife, especially African Fish Eagles whose calls echo overhead as they patrol the skies in search of fish. With shifting light throughout the day, The Basin offers a tranquil yet dynamic stage for observing the Selinda Reserve’s daily rhythms. Here, mornings often reveal soft-lit activity at the water’s edge, afternoons bring herds of thirsty elephants, and evenings settle into the calls of night creatures beginning their watch.
