The Africam story
Passionate about wildlife, conservation and live streaming out of the African bush
Always Live. Always Wild.
Africam’s journey began in 1998 with a visionary idea to bring Africa’s wildlife to a global audience through live cameras. The goal was simple yet ambitious: to provide real-time access to wildlife through the web. The initial live webcam was installed in the Sabi Sands, South Africa, capturing a 30- second refresh image.
Since then, the advancement of live streaming technology, coupled with enhancements in camera quality, has notably elevated the viewing experience, delivering sharper and more engaging visuals. By prioritizing high-definition, live wildlife observation, we have continuously positioned ourselves as a trailblazer in this domain, setting up cameras across South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Kenya, and Zimbabwe.
From the beginning, Africam has remained deeply committed to conservation and education. As we have grown, our focus on supporting wildlife conservation efforts and raising awareness about the ecosystem challenges in Africa has intensified. We work closely with various conservation organizations, wildlife experts, and local communities to promote sustainable practices and advance research on wildlife conservation and behaviour.
